We apologize for the inconvenience, but the updated location can better accomodate larger groups and we believe it is much more conducive to a hike designed to empower the women in our community.
We are proud to host a special "We Hike to Heal" event as we take part in the international movement "Women Everywhere: Hike to Heal" on March 30th, 2019 at 9:30 am! Founded by The Outdoor Journal Tour, #wehiketoheal is a month-long women's empowerment and wellness campaign that culminates on March 30th with #wehiketoheal hikes around the world. The goal of #wehiketoheal is to encourage women all over the world to tap into the healing and empowering influences within themselves and the Great Outdoors.
We encourage everyone who signs up for this hike to register with #wehiketoheal by clicking here for access to their participant portal, guides and weekly resources.
On this hike, we hope people will share their stories about the power of Mother Nature and its ability to empower communities. We hike for ourselves, for our collective healing, and for the kick-ass community of strong women we belong to. Hike the World couldn't be prouder to be involved with this wonderful movement.
We will be giving away a copy of Beth Jusino's "Walking to the End of the World: A Thousand Miles on the Camino de Santiago", a book about a strong, empowered woman tackling a 79 day, thousand-mile journey and the assurance that an outdoor-based, boundary-stretching adventure is accessible to even the most unlikely of us.
*** Due to the overwhelming amount of registrations for this event, we were forced to relocate this event to The New Weis Center.
We will be meeting at The New Weis Center parking lot @ 9:30 am and we will hit the trails for this 3 mile hike by 10:15! Because of the relocation to this trail, the hike has been upgraded from easy to moderate. We will split off into 2 groups to meet once again atop the majestic, Wyanokie High Point. From there the groups will continue on the loop to finally end back at the parking lot from which they began their journey.
Game of Thrones Hike - 4.14.19
Calling all Lanisters, Starks, and Targaryens! Get ready for an epic 5-mile adventure that will take you along the King's Road, up The Wall, and along stunning cliffs to reach our final destination: WINTERFELL (aka Cliff Dale Ruins). This hike is relatively easy with only one ascent. For additional details from the NYNJTC, please click here. We will be meeting on Alpine Approach Road right off of Palisades Interstate Parkway, at the Administration Building. You can park in the employee lot on the weekends and there is plenty of space on the road.
Hikers are strongly encouraged to come in costume or wear any Game of Thrones paraphernalia or hike in character. We'll be giving out a prize for the best costume so suit up! One lucky attendee will also receive a very special prize- a bottle of the Game of Thrones wine!
We will be stopping at the castle for lunch and Game of Thrones trivia! Kids 12 and under get in free.
